Exterior Features
The exterior of the 2022 Ranger is attractive and will have the attention of many onlookers. It sports rain-detecting windshield wipers, black and orange bodyside cladding, tinted window glass, and galvanized steel panels in all trims. Opting for a lower trim will provide you with 16-inch or 17-inch wheels, a front grille, LED headlights and brake lights, and customized bumpers. The higher trim levels get unique 18-inch wheels and an orange grille trim.
Interior Features
The seating capacity in the interior depends on the type of cab style you choose for the 2022 Ford Ranger. You'll get four seats with the Super Cab and five seats with the Super Crew Cab. Whichever cab style you opt for, you'll still get adequate legroom and headroom in both rows, making it suitable to accommodate six-foot-tall adults easily during long trips. Features like manually adjustable front seats and cloth upholstery come standard, whereas leather upholstery and power-adjustable front seats are optional. The outward visibility for the front and sides is great, and the cabin appears designed to minimize road and wind noise from outside. The cold-warm weather package only comes standard in the upper-level trims and is optional for the preliminary trims. The package adds heating and cooling functions to the Ford truck.
Infotainment and Connectivity
The infotainment system offered in the new Ford Ranger offers two touchscreen options. The standard touchscreen is 3.5-inches, and it supports a Bluetooth connection and a Wi-Fi hotspot that lets you and your passengers stay connected to the Internet while cruising around town. If you'd like to get apps like Apple CarPlay, a navigation system, and Android Auto, you'll have to opt for the 8-inch touchscreen. Unlike the standard touchscreen, the optional one can pair with your device, thanks to Apple CarPlay and Android Auto technology. You also have an option of a 10-speaker or a four-speaker audio system. More tech features you can consider adding to the lineup include proximity keyless entry, dual-zone automatic climate control, and push-button start.
Safety
The Ford Ranger comes equipped with several advanced safety features. You'll find that the standard safety features of the 2022 Ranger include:
- Pedestrian detection
- A backup camera
- Front and rear airbags
- Mounted seat belts
- Dynamic stability control
- Forward collision alert
- Available lane-departure warning
- Automatic emergency braking
Performance
A sole powertrain accompanies the 2022 Ford Ranger, and it does a good job of bringing this truck up to speed. The engine is a turbocharged inline-four that produces 270 horsepower and can make an excellent torque of 310 pound-feet. A smooth-shifting 10-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive are available for the engine setup. Four-wheel-drive is available.
Trucks are usually not recognized when it comes to handling. However, the new Ford Ranger excels with its decently weighted and responsive steering wheel that contributes to composed handling in tight places and corners. It also features a taut suspension that provides a comfortable ride in rocky areas. The massive tires and adequate ground clearance also contribute to its outstanding performance in rugged areas.
Unlike most trucks, this new 2022 Ford Ranger offers decent gas mileage ratings. It records an EPA-estimated 26 mpg highway and 21 mpg city. The ratings will drop if you add the four-wheel drive to the truck or opt for the Tremor package.
